About Us

Company History

In the 1990’s, a European research project was started to improve global medicine.  The project’s goal was to build software which would allow research data and treatment outcomes to be shared online for patients, educators, and medical professionals.  It was one of the first coordinated attempts at creating an international network of experts and information to improve global health.  After years of success in research collaboration and knowledge sharing, the technology was commercialized in 1999.  Amongst the original founders were Peter van Praag, Henk Buurman, and Glenn Nijbroek who setup Collexis BV in Geldermalsen, The Netherlands.  Several years of intense product development followed, and the company moved to expand into the Americas markets in 2006 with the forming of Collexis Inc.  In 2007, a new parent company, Collexis Holdings Inc. was formed and taken onto the public markets.  In 2007 and 2008, Collexis Holdings acquired SyynX Solutions GmbH in Cologne, Germany and Lawriter LLC in Cincinnati, Ohio, furthering their presence in the Life Sciences and Legal communities respectively.  Today, Collexis conducts business on a global basis, with offices and clients around the world.  Though a commercial enterprise, the company still works to support global health initiatives and the opportunities that Collexis’ unique technology present for collaboration and improved discovery in multiple markets.  Collexis Holdings Inc. is headquartered in Columbia, South Carolina.

Collexis Today

Collexis Holdings, Inc.

Collexis Holdings Inc., a leading developer of semantic search and knowledge discovery software since 1999, is headquartered in Columbia, South Carolina (USA) with major operations in Cincinnati, Ohio, Geldermalsen, the Netherlands and Cologne, Germany.  Collexis patented technology builds conceptual profiles of text, called Fingerprints, from documents, websites, e-mails and other digitized content and matches them with a comprehensive list of pre-defined “fingerprinted” concepts to make research results more relevant and efficient.  This concept matching eliminates the ambiguity and lack of priority associated with word searches.  Users often describe the results as finding the proverbial needle in many haystacks. Through this innovative approach, Collexis can build unique applications to search, index, and aggregate information as well as prioritize, trend, and predict data based on sources in multiple industries without the limitations of language or dialect.  Representative clients include the National Institutes of Health , Johns Hopkins Institutions, Harvard University, and the University of South Carolina, to name a few.  Collexis shares of common stock are traded under the symbol CLXS on the OTC Bulletin Board (OTC BB).
